Counselor

My role as a therapist is to offer a safe space in which you can explore life’s challenges. Utilizing an integrated approach, we can work to identify and build upon your own strengths and address current needs. Finding the right therapist can be challenging. I strive to be compassionate and culturally sensitive while helping you work toward your goals. I am interning at Breakthrough as I’m finishing up my Master’s degree in clinical counseling. Whether it’s depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, or self-esteem challenges, I invite you into a non-judgmental space to work through your struggles.

Anthony
M.S., LAC
Counselor

The psychology of humanity can be complex and navigating through our unique issues can sometimes be challenging, but I believe each of us can make any changes that we desire. My desire is to help you struggle through your current turmoil, whatever that may be. Like you, I have experienced many barriers along this ever-changing pathway of life and, I believe, have adapted for the better. Before counseling at this current private practice, my experiences have included working with people at a domestic violence shelter, providing services to families as a parent aide, working with children as a behavior coach, and as a social worker for a preschool program. Overall, these work experiences showed me that people can be in distress when making crucial changes in their lives and may need counseling services but, with the right help, they can absolutely achieve their goals. I tend to lean more towards a cognitive-behavioral approach since I believe that it takes an overall element of the mind, behavior, and emotions to make steps toward change. But I also consider each person, and their issues, to be unique so I hope that we can meet and create a tailored treatment plan that will help you best achieve your goals and be the best version of yourself that you can be. Give me a call and let’s get started on your next breakthrough.

M.S. (pending), BHT

Life sometimes presents us with challenges. When we identify something in our lives that we want to change, it can be hard to cope with leaving you feeling overwhelmed.  I provide a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment while exploring what lead to your life challenges. I have over 18 years of social work experience and 3 years of working in behavioral health. In my practice I use a variety of evidenced-based approaches including motivational interviewing, solution focused, person centered and cognitive behavioral therapy. I specialize in working with children, adolescents and adults struggling with substance use, domestic violence, trauma, general mental health, and other life challenges. I gained an understanding of the hardships that come along with trauma and substance use. My goal is to help you reach your goals that brought you to therapy. I enjoy empowering individuals, like yourself, to feel heard and understood. I commend you for taking the first step in seeking help, as I can understand how this may be difficult. I also understand that change is a process, and I will meet you where you are to help you move towards improving your life.

Taking the first step can be overwhelming. I am here to help make this process less stressful while helping you make progress with your mental health. I have a person centered, non-judgmental, and flexible approach to support you exactly where you are at. With nine years’ experience working in mental health, I know one size does not fit all and having a counselor that supports you, how you need, can make all the difference. With this, my approach is eclectic in using different methods, depending on what works best for you. I use methods from cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and other humanistic and postmodern theories. I use trauma informed and culturally competent approaches to create a safe space for everyone including those in the LGBTQIA+ community.  I love the people I work with and believe in resilience. Most importantly, I believe in the power in connection and the ability to heal. I have an open door for individuals of all ages, couples, and families.

Additionally, I integrate the principles of DBT to enhance emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. My person-focused therapy approach emphasizes the importance of building a strong therapeutic alliance and tailoring interventions to honor each individual's unique experiences and strengths.

I believe in the resilience and capacity for growth within each person, and I am dedicated to empowering my clients to cultivate their inner strengths and lead more fulfilling lives. My mission is to support individuals in making sustainable changes, building healthier relationships, and developing the skills needed to navigate life's complexities with confidence and resilience.

Quin
M.S., LAC
Counselor

I’m an LAC who also works part time with individuals who need Dementia care and Palliative care, which I have enjoyed for the past 7 years. Therapeutic wise, the intervention I use predominately is CBT. However, I utilize DBT, Mindfulness, SFBT, and REBT, and take on a faith-based approach in my practice. I recently received a basic certification in herbalism and received another certification as a divine spirit yoga teacher. I strive to integrate a completely spiritual and holistic aspect into my practice by incorporating different means for my clients to heal mind, body, and spirit.

The population I enjoy working with are individuals with the following challenges: stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, moderate level of depression, and grief. I also assist in treating children & adolescents. I genuinely care for people and consider myself as a listening ear for those who need someone to process with and to be their cheerleader as they’re on their healing journey. You are the expert of your life, and I’m a resource to help you help yourself achieve what you’re seeking assistance with.

My goal isn't to keep my clients in therapy long-term because that would be a disservice to you. I want for my clients to feel heard, seen, valued, respected, encouraged, and supported. I want my clients to walk away with tools to cope with different life events & stressors, and a better perspective of themselves and their lives. I know people are capable of extraordinary things when we open our hearts and have someone there for a little guidance during the journey.

“We never have to be stuck in the moment of our negative experiences. You never have to be a victim to external circumstances or internal emotions. We all possess the power to control our emotions and thoughts while shaping our destiny in the healthiest manner through action.” Are you stressed out and anxious? Does it feel no matter how hard you try, you can’t seem to be happy? Are you struggling with feeling sad all the time? Have you tried to solve the problems in your life on your own and realized you need help from someone else? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by being here.

I work with a culturally diverse group of individuals with various racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds including various lifestyles, experiences, and interests; specializing in the treatment of individuals (teenagers and adults) who have challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and addictions.

Common goals for therapy include restoring healthy relationships, diminishing symptoms of depression and anxiety, increasing communication coping skills, healing past trauma or loss, and transforming them to productive patterns of healthier life choices, behaviors, and emotions. My goal is to work in a collaborative manner with you to improve your life.

Tammar
M.S., LAC
Counselor

My practice is focused on working with couples and with individual clients on anxiety, depression, phase of life issues, adjustment difficulties, self-esteem issues and stress management. I aim to cultivate a collaboration between client and counselor to create a positive, safe environment where change and healing can begin.

My view of the therapeutic journey is that the client is the expert of their own process being supportively guided by the counselor along the way. My main theoretical orientations are CBT, DBT and attachment theory.

I understand that life can be tough at times and making your initial therapy appointment can be the hardest step. You deserve it and owe it to yourself to gain back control of your life and live to your fullest potential. Regardless of what brings you to seek therapy services I am here to help in your journey.

Sherrelle
M.S., LAC
Counselor

I completed my master’s degree at Grand Canyon University, in Mental Health Counseling with a Christian Emphasis. I was previously employed as a Correctional officer and decided to change professions and have been working as a Case Manager for the Division of Developmental Disabilities. Through my employment as a Correctional Officer and Case Manager, I have realized how much of a need there is for mental health services. This is what has led to my decision in becoming a mental health counselor with Breakthrough Behavioral. The Christian emphasis is due to my noticing that many Christians tend not to seek out help because of the stigma associated with getting mental health services. I am hoping that as a Christian Counselor I can help them get the help they are needing.

I am passionate about helping individuals with disabilities, preteens, teens, couples, and anyone who is needing help on their journey to being healed. I have helped others work through Substance abuse, low self-esteem, negative self-image, suicidal behaviors, Anxiety, Depression, and families who are trying to develop the skills needed to help support their loved ones. I have also helped couples either dating or married in redefining their relationships and coming back together as a unit.

I am hoping that as a mental health counselor I can help any individual no matter their background. Through plenty of support, empathy, understanding, and uplifting them, each client will be able to not just reach their goals but learn more about themselves along the way. That everyone who I work with can develop their self-love while successfully reaching their goals while in counseling.

We all want to be heard, and I am here to listen without judgment. Taking the first step toward feeling better can feel daunting and I am so proud of you for taking that step. As I am completing my Master’s degree, interning as a counselor-in-training, I work with adults, adolescents and couples. I am committed to helping my clients find meaning and fulfillment in their lives.

My practice is grounded in a holistic approach that integrates acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and person-centered therapy. In my work, I draw on the principles of ACT to help my clients cultivate a sense of mindfulness and awareness of their thoughts and feelings, allowing them to develop a greater understanding of their experiences. Through this understanding, they can make choices that align with their core values and goals. I strive to create an environment where clients feel heard, understood, and accepted for who they are, without judgment or criticism.

Overall, my approach is characterized by warmth, empathy, and a deep commitment to helping clients achieve their goals. Whether you're seeking relief from past traumas, struggling with anxiety or depression, or simply longing for a more fulfilling life, I'm here to support you every step of the way. I believe that everyone has the capacity for change, and I am honored to be a part of your journey towards growth, self-discovery and your next breakthrough!

I use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, inner child work, and art therapy.

Rochelle
M.S., LPC
Clinical Supervisor

It is my belief that counseling is one of the most overlooked and underutilized tools to finding healing from life and gaining a clearer picture of our true selves. Having personally overcome loss and tragedy to get here, I have experienced first-hand how trained professionals can help us find our ways past such obstacles. I have worked for years as a speech therapist specializing in helping children with disabilities and different abilities to master the skills necessary to succeed. I have also served as a missionary to Kenya, and I continue to work with the disadvantaged both locally and abroad.

All of this has helped me learn to accept people where and how they are, and to help them find the tools and truths necessary to achieve peace.

I have worked with clients on the Autism Spectrum, as well as those struggling with Codependence, Grief, Anxiety, Woman’s issues, Relationship Issues, Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families, Sexual Trauma, and/or Faith/Spirituality. Let's meet to see if I can also help you with your current struggles.

I do this by getting clear on the levels you want to perform at and the actions needed to get you there.

I believe that counseling is about empowering us to make the positive changes in our lives that we believe we need to live a fulfilling and happy life. Sometimes we have learned dysfunctional thought processes from the experiences life has provided us. Having a trusted professional to help us sift through our beliefs and thoughts in a non judgmental way can provide us with a different perspective, can enables us to make the changes that we already know we need to make, but have been unable to make happen.

I have personal experience with anger management, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Addictions in families, Codependency, and how to make change occur in our lives. I offer a different perspective and a non judgmental approach to empowering people to make positive change occur in their life.

As an older person, with a variety of experiences, I have learned that their are many ways through life and and many learning experiences provided to us. I have found great value in being open to change. Let's talk and see if I can be of service to you
